About the artist...

Watch Stephanie Stranger get to know a new typewriter.
Stephanie Strange is an interdisciplinary artist whose practice engages drawings on paper, kinetic hanging art, concrete installations; and an extensive venue of typewriter inspired art including poetry performance, interactive presentations, a collection of published poetry, a body of art work typed on typewriters and sculptures created with their parts. Her work is found in permanent public collections including Twin Oaks Library, Austin, University of Texas, Department of Human Ecology, Austin, and Texas State University, San Marcos. Strange has been featured in exhibitions and festivals in the United States and is collected internationally.
Stephanie finds inspiration in the energy of communication. She observes communication as a growing organism and investigates the myriad effect of its existence through the application of subject, medium and method in which she combines. Her work tells visual stories of the juxtaposition of amorphous organic ideas processed through medium and allegorized in simple elements such as lines and shapes.
