Patrick Puckett: Western Civ.
June 29-July 28, 2024

We open our 11th solo show with figurative painter Patrick Puckett Saturday, June 29th. His paintings are known for their bold colors and languid figures, executed with confident interaction between paint application, shape, color and texture. The works on paper emit intimacy, with more subtle features and evidence of the artist’s hand through drawn elements. The works on canvas command space, strength and attention through scale, assertive brush strokes and color choice. All of the figures in Puckett’s paintings are unapologetically sure of themselves, just like the technique he employs.

Stephanie Strange + Joseph Janson
August 3-September 1, 2024

Opening reception on Saturday, August 3 from 6 to 8pm

Viewing Janson's sculptures is like walking through a line drawing. Working with baling wire, his works ebb and flow like marks on a page to create recognizable forms: people, animals, and objects such as tables and lamps. He groups his figures by working with one continuous wire, and therefore one continuous line. Janson’s playful works depict how interconnected we all are. Stephanie Strange's drawings also explore interconnectedness through line. Her repetitive, delicate graphite lines tell visual stories of amorphous organic ideas through movement and balance. Strange has a quest to discover the language of energy, and observes communication as a growing organism. In her work, she seeks to express the beauty of how energy is a communication running through all existence.  Each artist manipulates the flow of lines using different materials, both seeking to engage and convey a certain existence with the viewer. Joseph Janson and Stephanie Strange are both artists living and working in Austin, Texas.
