Jihye Lim + Laura Post | PrintAustin 2022

In conjunction with the city-wide printmaking festival PrintAustin, we are excited to present a show with Korean artist Jihye Lim and Texas artist Laura Post. Lim and Post both employ a surreal use of the figure. Post's sculptures combine various printmaking techniques with cast handmade paper to expand the boundaries of the medium of print and redefine ideas of portraiture. Lim's exquisite mezzotints explore ideas of rest, depicting the figure physically becoming one with objects of leisure.

Laura Post earned an MFA from Rhode Island School of Design in Printmaking and a B.A. from Swarthmore College in Studio Art and Asian Studies. Post uses her training in Chinese language and East Asian studies to incorporate traditional Chinese, Japanese, and Western printmaking and papermaking techniques in her work. Additionally, she uses invasive plant species from different ecological regions to create sustainable paper and pulp paintings.

Jihye Lim earned an MFA in Printmaking from Tokyo University of the Arts and a BFA in Printmaking from Hong-ik University in Korea. She has been awarded Grand Prizes at Print Competitions in both Japan and Korea. This is her first exhibition in the United States.
