About the artist...

Andy Dixon’s bright, opulent canvases are tongue-in-cheek explorations of wealth and privilege—and how those subjects fit into the art historical canon. The Vancouver-born, Los Angeles–based artist often riffs on Renaissance-era portraiture or Flemish still lifes, integrating electric color palettes into old motifs. Dixon has exhibited at galleries in Los Angeles, New York, Hong Kong, and Vancouver, and his work has been acquired by the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Arkansas and the West Collection at SEI in Pennsylvania. Dixon’s color-drenched canvases neither vilifiy nor glorify affluence; they merely present its strange rituals and totems for viewers to approach on their own terms.
