Angie Renfro: Solo Show - Virtual Tour

This content requires HTML5/CSS3 & WebGL.

With every look, one constantly discovers something new about Angie Renfro's paintings. A complex method of under-painting and the skilled utilization of linseed oil creates a fascinating surface. Renfro uses this layering system to incorporate unexpected colors and subtle details, like fish feeding on a whale's underside or a faint ship on the horizon. It wasn't until close inspection of a painting I'd been looking at for two weeks, that I saw faint bubbles rising to the surface from the blowhole in For the Time Being. Renfro aims to describe what she calls "a powerful quiet." It is with her careful treatment of the surfaces along with her color choices that she achieves it, rendering the seemingly heavy graceful.
