Jane Radstrom captures intimate, candid moments in large pastel and mixed media paintings. “As a realist, I am aware that I am a part of a centuries-old tradition of artists depicting the human form, but I also want my art to respond to the current time period. I am inspired by photographers using manipulation of exposure to create images that are 'real', and yet cannot be seen by the naked eye. This is a quality that I try to capture in The Girls Series through unusual color, visible mark-making and recently, layering of poses.” At only 26 years old, the observation skills that Radstrom displays are remarkable. Focusing on nuances of body language and expression, she fluidly conveys the presence of her subjects. Jane Radstrom is an artist and designer residing in Austin, TX. She graduated with honors from Ringling College of Art and Design in 2008. In addition to showing in galleries, she does illustrations for clients nationwide and teaches figure drawing for Academy of Art University and The Art Department. web site: www.janeradstrom.com |
