The patterns of growth and development found in nature are the inspiration for my recent watercolors. Each painting is a personal viewpoint of an intimate environment, a chance glimpse of a secluded object or place. Observing structure and details that are often obscure to the casual viewer I patiently build forms with veiled translucent layers of colors on cold-pressed, rough cotton paper. I love painting and paper. Not only the physical properties of the pigment, with its vibrancy and transparent qualities, but the way the paint can move uninterrupted on its own journey, intermingle with other hues, or be isolated within a defined plane. The final painting ultimately conveys a mysterious personal narrative filled with evocative expression and life. The sensual lines dance lyrically across the surface in a personal viewpoint that definitively conveys the idea of emergence.
