Bo Newell

Bo Newell, born in Ponca City, Oklahoma, in 1950, moved with his oil-industry family from his home state to Massachusetts, then on to Colorado and California, finally settling in Houston, Texas. Bo attended Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas where he received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.

While living in California, Bo was talented and fortunate enough to attend the prestigious Chounaird Institute in Los Angeles.

In 1974, he made his first journey to Africa, flying into Nairobi, he toured the wildlife reserves, where he painted the animals and tribes in their natural surroundings. He has made many trips to Africa over the years for new inspiration and material. He has also painted the North American canyon lands and views from Big Bend National Park.

Bo has shown his paintings at the major hunting/conservation shows around the United States since the mid-1970’s. His work has been exhibited at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, the Northwestern University Museum in Chicago, and in 1980, he had a one-man show at Grosvenor House in London, England.

His work is included in many corporate and private collections through out the country.
